Alfred's
Homestead Restaurant
Fully
Licenced Restaurant
We have the following Great Shows coming up in early 2010.
5th March
- Lisa Edwards
Born in Adelaide, Lisa has been actively involved in the music industry
for most of her life. The daughter of a Jazz pianist and a stage
performer she was introduced to the entertainment world at the tender
age of seven singing along with her father at various venues and making
numerous television appearances. Her earliest musical memories are of
Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and other Jazz greats.
Constantly surrounded with music and watching her idols on television,
Lisa dreamed of one day emulating their success.
Now in the 90’s, Lisa listens to the production work of Quincy Jones,
David Foster, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and baby Face, to name a few.
Although Lisa’s taste in music is quite diverse, she enjoys the work of
Barbara Streisand, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion, Prince and
George Michael, among others.
In secondary school, Lisa joined with three other students to form the
quartet “Harmonie”. They went from appearing on talent programs to
performing the club circuit and supporting international acts.
In the 70’s, Lisa worked as a solo artist both in South Australia and
Sydney supporting such artists as The Seekers, The Platters, The
Drifters and The Pointer Sisters to name a few. Her influences included
Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross and Aretha Franklin.
Renowned for her ability to perform live, Lisa has covered many areas
in music including jazz, musicals and contemporary material. Her
experience also covers television, recordings, live work, dancing and
playing numerous musical instruments.
A consummate performer, Lisa’s success as a vocalist has been well
documented. She has worked with high-profile Australian acts such as:
Noiseworks, Black Sorrows, Real Life, Ross Wilson, Billy Thorpe, Brian
Cadd and Kate Ceberano, and was one of the most impressive vocalists on
the Kylie Minogue European tour. However, Lisa is probably best known
to Australian audiences as one of John Farnham’s accomplished and
dynamic backing singers.
She has been a constant member of the Farnham band since 1988, touring
both nationally and internationally. Popular with live audiences, Lisa
performed the duet ‘Angels’ and ‘Don’t Let It End’ with John on his
latest tour, receiving overwhelming responses. She says; “ I get a lot
of satisfaction from working on stage and in the studio. The
opportunities of having met and worked with some wonderful people have
provided me with great experience”.
Some of those highlights have been to share the stage with
international acts such as Natalie Cole, Al Green, Sting, Brian Adams,
Hall & Oats, Cindy Lauper, to Lenny Kravitz and Yoko Ono for the
John Lennon Tribute Concert in Liverpool. She has also worked with Tom
Jones, and at the opening of the Melbourne Casino with ray Charles in
Support to Stevie Wonder.
It had become obvious that this exceptionally talented lady could no
longer remain hidden. Recognising her talent, Lisa was signed to a
label deal that saw the release of her first solo album ‘Thru The
Loop’, from which the song ‘Cry’ achieved gold status throughout
Australia.
The last 2 years have been the most challenging and rewarding of Lisa’s
career, with 1998 starting off with a national tour with Kylie Minogue,
and then heading to Europe for further engagements with John Farnham
and Kylie Minogue. Returning to Australia to do a national tour with a
trifecta of great Australian talent – John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John
and Anthony Warlow on The Main Event, finishing in 1998 with a three
week tour with Olivia Newton-John, opening at the Las Vegas Hilton on
New Years Eve.
199 began with a national tour with some of Australia’s top artists –
Kate Ceberano, Human Nature, James Reyne and Merril Bainbridge – to
celebrate John Farnham’s ‘I Can’t Believe He’s 50’ tour. Then due to
the success of Olivia’s 3-week tour in 1998, Lisa was again asked to be
apart of a two-month tour with Olivia Newton-John in America. To cap
the year off, a spur of the moment decision was made to put on the
‘Tour of Duty’ concert in appreciation of the peacekeeping effort in
East Timor. For Lisa Edwards, this was one of the most moving and
emotional musical and personal experiences she has ever had in her long
time in the music industry.
Lisa, along with all her fellow Australian performers, was treated to
standing ovations and more importantly smiles from the people of East
Timor, who had lost everything but could now see hope on the horizon.
Exuding sensuality, Lisa is the epitome of sophistication. The
versatility of this masterful singer charms the critics and public
alike.
Lisa Edwards is one of Australia’s leading performers, poised for
phenomenal success both here and in the international market.
Lisa’s philosophy on life is “Let there be more joy and laughter in
your living”, and for all those who have heard or met Lisa Edwards,
they know she well and truly lives by that philosophy.
19th March - Ross
Wilson
26th March - Kenny

For
those who are looking to see ourList of Shows
Please go down to our Table of Shows.
So many have offered to improve the look of this website.
I want everyone
to see everything we have and so I have kept the what I call the
Top-Down to see the Lot approach.
If you have time
and start at the top. When you have reached the bottom of this page
you
have actually seen and read everything on this site.
It may take a
day to read all on the site but at least you will know how much of
the
site you have read when you stop for a break.
I find the so
called modern look tends to only make you read what you need to know
and you normally don't explore the whole site because you don't know
where to start
or when you have seen the lot.
Please take the
adventure of starting here and when you reach the counter at the end
you will have read our web site.
